A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, where you can walk through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.
The city’s most recognizable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the color of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.
Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping center has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.
South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this isn't the city’s only sports heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules soccer and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.
Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodations from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.
Its fabulous. Go to Melbourne, get lost, have a ball, see so much. You can do Melbourne alone or with friends. It has slowed a little since the dreaded Covid killed the world, but is still has its flavour. Melbourne is friendly, its what you make of it. You could have $50 to play with for a week after trams, trains, food and accommodation and you could still have a wonderful time. Plus Melbourne coffee is often $1 cheaper than the rest of Australia. Melbourne is a wonderful dream, people talk to you, its pretty safe, no one is stuck up and its fun. Melbourne is where your imagination is ignited and its a lovely thing.

Fitzroy is a favourite and we spend a lot of time there exploring the secondhand shops, markets and bars, but it's great to explore new areas. This trip was the first time we stayed in South Melbourne and we'll definitely go back as we want to go to the South Melbourne Markets again, so many delicious places to eat. Exploring Melbourne is easy with a great public transport system - looking forward to our next visit.

We stayed in the heart of the city, steps away from Marvel Stadium- perfect for walking and taking in a footy game! Excellent shops and places to eat, and the free city tram made getting around easy. We visited the museum, the state library, and walked along the many pathways in the nearby parks.

Melbourne is a wonderful city with many lovely sights.
Melbourne is a wonderful city with many lovely sights. I would recommend staying close to Southbank where there are plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from. From there, you can walk to the botanical gardens, the city centre and jump on a tram to St Kilda to the beach, or Acland st for a more eclectic feel. Port Melbourne is also a tram ride and a walk along the promenade to visit Station pier. A visit to Fitzroy gardens is also worth a trip, and to check out Cook`s cottage and the old treasury building at the top of Collins st.

Easy to walk around, the free tram zone was a bonus. Heaps of things to see and do; museums, parks, markets, restaurants and bars. It's worth exploring the Skydeck for panoramic views of the city and surrounds, and I recommend doing a dinner river cruise.

So easy to get around the team system with free tram rides...
So easy to get around the team system with free tram rides and bus to Chadstone we didn’t pay for any extra travelling. Sadly Sunday nights were harder to find restaurants open but overall the food was great.
The location was convenient and accessible to the Melbourne CBD. There was a tram stop right outside the hotel. It’s reasonably close to the Southern Cross Station which was our destination from the airport using the Skybus.
The hotel room was spacious and clean. The check in process was easy, Nick was friendly and very helpful. Bonus for having a lift; especially with lots of luggage. We dined for lunch at the on-site restaurant, the Asian cuisine was very good.
Amazing apartment hotel in Melbourne CBD. Fully furnished with in-unit washer & dryer, very nice furniture/kitchen fixtures. We used the kitchen to cook our own meals each night and it had everything we needed! Really felt high quality and made it a wonderful stay. There was a fitness center in the building with a large pool (indoor) as well. Super convenient to get to/from the airport, just a short walk to the sky bus terminal
Nice location, but because of building Metro Tunnel not convinient to walk to CBD. Use tram and dont forget to buy maky - it is not freezone and you can not pay by card in public transport, as in Sydney.
The staff is very warm and friednly. You can ask early check in or left your luggage in storage room for free. They have iron and hair dryer, but it placed in the hall. For current price the hotel has decent facitilities.
Conveniently located in the heart of CBD within walking distance to everything! We asked for a quiet room and Ibis fulfilled our request. Room was on the small side but had everything we needed for a 1 night stay. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast the next morning. Our flight was later in the afternoon so we really appreciated the hotel's complimentary luggage storage service. Overall great stay, will return!
It was one of the cheapest hotels in Melbourne that we could find, easy on site parking, buffet breakfast was included in the price which was good, the bed was extremely comfortable.. Spencer outlet right across from the hotel and next to the tram station and also a short 15 minute walk to the CBD area and a 20 minute walk to Docklands. We rebooked another two night stay here again in a month!
Location within the city was fantastic with a tram stop right outside the front door. Great staff, clean/quiet rooms, comfortable bed, great kitchen facilities. Definitely nice being in a hotel room that doesn't feel like a shoebox. Each bed comes with four different hardness of pillow, so you will always be comfortable.
I will absolutely be back next time I am in Melbourne
From the start you are greeted with friendly receptionist staff who are helpful and polite. The building is well kept and the rooms are spacious. Although the hotel doesn’t do breakfast, the recommended restaurant is second to none.
The building is also located in the CBD of Melbourne with lots of public transport available to get around the city.
Naughtons Parkville Hotel, located near Melbourne University, is cosy and unpretentious ... just the way I like it. It's close to the city, yet far enough away for those who might be overwhelmed by the sounds of the CBD. Its rooms are cozy, simple and clean. This is the second time I've stayed and I returned because I liked it so much the first time.
Perfect location which is a 5 minute walk to the Southbank entertainment precinct. Cafes, Restaurants, Bars.. you name it's all within easy walking distance. The apartments are also a short 10-15 walk from the Southern Cross Station which is great for interstate travellers who fly in and zip into the city from the Airport on the SkyBus.
Whenever I have the unfortunate need to be in Melbourne, I stay here. After the horrors of existing in Melbourne, it is a very comfortable place to stay with a nice pool/spa. It is also close to CBD, which is a terrible place, but if you are visiting Melbourne, it's probably where you need to be.
Best views in Melbourne and total privacy on the massive Yarra facing balcony. Views from virtually the entire apartment. Great location to explore Melbourne CBD, Southbank and Docklands area. Friendly and efficient communications with host. Thoughtful extras left in the kitchen for our stay.
Great location on Flinders St in Melbourne CBD with direct tram service to Australian Open outside the front door.
The Rendezvous Hotel is a grand old lady of yesteryear that retains an older style character but with a modern fresh vibe. Well appointed and comfortable.
Excellent location for trains and trams in Melbourne CBD, hotel is clean and quiet. Directly opposite the Spencer Street station and shopping outlets. Taxi/driver booked through Booking.com from airport was very nice, both vehicle and driver.
We stayed at the Westin so we could see a show in town. Very convenient location. Excellent service from everyone at the hotel, from the minute we arrived to the minute of our departure.
I will never stay anywhere else in Melbourne CBD.
The hotel is centrally located in the heart of Melbourne CBD near Flagstaff Gardens. It is a short walk to Melbourne Central, the Queen Victoria Market, and Docklands. The hotel is clean and comfortable, and good value for money.
From the front desk staff and concierge to room quality and location - excellent hotel. I highly recommend it for anyone traveling to Melbourne. The location was perfect for events in the city or excursions outside the CBD.
