We loved our stay here! The room was spotless and Tomami cleaned it every day while we were out. Hand made breakfast was also included which we got to eat in a small breakfast nook with ocean views. This B and B was paradise.

The staff was so kind and helpful. The hiking trails and waterfall were amazing! And our room was comfy and had everything we needed. The included breakfast was excellent. Use of the kitchen, fridge, and microwave and extra snacks provided were also a bonus.

Enjoyed Liliuokalani Park and Japanese Gardens, holiday lights festival in Japanese Gardens, live Hawaiian music at Grand Naniloa lobby bar, beautiful free zoo with great animals (donations welcome), waterfalls, proximity to Volcanoes NP. We stayed on the sunny side of the island for beach time for five days, then drove over the mountains and along the beautiful Hamakua coast (which has gorgeous botanical gardens) to Hilo, spent a day in Hilo - walked to Liliuokalani Park and around the Japanese gardens and the little island; drove to the zoo and waterfalls - and after two nights in Hilo checked out and drove to Volcanoes NP and spent the afternoon there, very crowded on Christmas Day; drove around towards Kona, had drinks and food at the King Kamehameha hotel in Kona and looked at the amazing huge collection of historical Hawaiian paintings and accompanying signs there, like a museum of old Hawaii; and drove to the airport and flew home.

Downtown is pretty tired looking.
Downtown is pretty tired looking. It really needs some upgrades and fresh look. However, the park is Fantastic!! Beautiful trees and walkways, really relaxing. Needs some coffee shops in the area. We had dinner at Ponds, great food but waiter was rude to the people at the next table.

Friendly people in spite of inflation and still some great values. Beautiful geography and a wide variety of climates can be experienced on a single island. Downtown has been revitalized and there is even more nostalgia for the old Hawaiian buildings there since the Lahaina devastation on Maui.

The beds are amazing - we slept really well despite being in a double bed. I love that there’s a fan and AC option. Location is perfect but you still need a car to get around. It suited us perfectly for 2 adults and 2 kids and was easy to go on tours from this location.

Not a busy centre but certainly had enough features and options for us. Wonderful natural environment - as well as being within close proximity to sensational nature features.
Preferred Hilo to Waikiki.

Hilo is so different than other parts of Hawaii.
Hilo is so different than other parts of Hawaii. It had an old-fashion-y feel to it. Older buildings in downtown and beautiful moss covered bridges. Gorgeous giant, old banyan trees and other beautiful trees and plants you dont get to see in other more popular locations. Has amazing waterfalls a short drive away and lots of farms that give the area a quaint feel.
Kawehi (pronounced Ka-vay-hee) provides to her guests the entire front portion of her well-located home in Hilo. It is amazing the amount of room, both inside and out, that you have access to compared to a normal hotel room. It includes a full kitchen, stocked with various complementary goodies, and an outdoor covered dining area, plus plenty of places just to lounge around in. And covered parking is included, which is a great feature in rainy Hilo. We enjoyed our stay very much.
The ocean veiw room on the 5th floor was exceptonal. The first room the had us in had a veiw of the roof and roftop equipment. I would highly recommend te ocean veiw room. Staff upgraded us for free but It would have been tragic to have to have spend 4 days looking at that roof. The staff at the hotel from front desk, valet, house keeping staff, bar staff, entertainment, was all to shelf. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone.
Hilo Bay Hostel is unsanitary and unsafe. There is a cockroach infestation that is not being addressed, there is black mould and spores growing on the ceiling fan. Nothing has been cleaned in years. Its disgusting and most likely violating health and building codes. I stayed one night (woke up with a cockroach on the bed!!) and left immediately as soon as I was able to arrange new accommodation.
When you go to Hawaii and have to stay on the Hilo side there are not many choices . I have family on that side of the island so I needed a place to stay. I stayed there before I love that little place. It’s really great keep up the good work they have bikes to ride.. so I rode to the farmers market to visit my sister. It was really great good times.
The B&B is very well located. Very close to Hilo but a little secluded. Room was very comfortable and spacious. Common area was spacious as well. The whole place feels very calm and private. Hosts were were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was good. I really loved their sustainability approach. Highly recommended.
beautiful suite in home near the ocean just north of Hilo. A great surfing beach a short walk away. Morning breakfast provided by host including Hawaiian fruit and Kona coffee couldn’t be better. Hot tub and swimming pool a wonderful plus. The host very friendly and helpful. We recommend this stay over hotel!
Because of poor neighborhood, my family was not comfortable staying in the hotel, we booked another hotel, we did not go to the hotel. We were expecting refund but not yet happened. Priceline customer care did not help us to resolve the issue.
Nice and clean, perfect location to walk to the Hilo center and to get the bus to different locations - beaches, Volcano National Park etc. Friendly staff and good facilities to cook your own food. Made some friends there too!
Could not beat the view. Staff was exceptional. Rooms quite comfy. Hilo is not Kona so do not expect it to be the same. Hilo is old Hawaii and the amazing staff embody the Hawaiian spirit of aloha. Very special place.
This was the best place we stayed in Hawaii. The sunrise room was absolutely beautiful and much bigger than the pictures appear. We were very comfortable staying here. The breakfast is also absolutely fantastic.
I liked what the hotel stood for (Social, Community, Planet) and there were some thoughtful touches - loved the free tea and coffee and the steamer in the room (instead of an iron) is a great idea.
Nice location on the Hilo side. Room and bathroom clean. Small fridge, microwave, coffee maker. TV. Would have been nice to stay longer. Maybe next time. Very close to Hawaii Volcano Park
The hotel was fine, reasonable restaurants in close proximity. Not far from downtown Hilo, near shopping opportunities. Not really good location for activities or beaches.
I liked that the hotel was really close the airport, close to a lot of places on our bucket list of places to see and also close to stores and restaurants!
situated in a lovely location very private and not touristy.
the hotel is looks beautiful and the bedroom decoration was lovely.
love the balcony access
