Awful from when we arrived. 8 hours drive to be welcomed by a rude obnoxious guy called Chris.
When we left chased us on the road , nearly causing an accident , blocking two lanes of the carriage saying we didn’t pay. He charged us twice. Police involved by us . Awful staying, awful guy. He is lucky I was not having a bad day, otherwise the idiot would be in hospital. Stay away from it

The Lake District is a beautiful part of England and Keswick is a lovely place within it. It's big enough to have a small town feel bit small enoght to have a village feel. Coupled with this is its direct position on the lake with its beautiful views of hills/mountains (I can never tell the difference!) in balance with the lake on its islands. Altogether its a wonderfully peaceful place to chill alone or socialise with lovely people as you choose.

As a person who enjoys driving, the roads to the Lake District are some of the most spectacular…as long as the weather is nice to take in the views.
The main road of the A591 takes you from Keswick to Windermere. What a drivers road and the views!
Even at the busiest time we have been, we have managed to park up. Be warned though, as must places these days, cash payment are not accepted, so be prepared to download or use your phone to make payment.
Otherwise the area is very well kept and hats off to the locals and those that visit for keeping this gem, super clean.
This isn’t a place where you will see cheap tacky shops which is a blessing. You will of course pay a premium for some other stuff.
Keswick has its own lake and boat trips which are great to use on a warm day and to rest those weary limbs.
There is a large amount varying restaurants , Steaks, Indians, Thai etc, so you are spoilt for choice. Locally made beers are also on tap.

Such a beautiful place, so much to do and see.
Such a beautiful place, so much to do and see. We took our little dog and she loved it! It’s the perfect place to take your dog. Down by Derwenter lake was perfect and there’s a boat that stops at several points around the lake if you don’t fancy the 10 miles walk around the lake. Will definitely be going back.

Keswick is a pleasant town in the Lake District beside Derwent Water. Plenty of restaurants and pubs. There is a market on Thursdays. The Pencil Museum is worth a visit, small but full of interesting facts on the manufacture and use of all types of pencil. The circular boat trip around Derwent Water is a pleasant way to spend an hour.

The countryside around Keswick is beautiful.
The countryside around Keswick is beautiful. The views from Catbells are fantastic and it is a relatively easy climb, but VERY busy and almost a procession. The Pencil Museum was brilliant, really interesting and well done, we had a quiz sheet to complete, and it enhanced the experience. The town was busy, but not unpleasantly so, there are lots of independent shops and cafes. We also went to a play at the Theatre at the Lake, which is a lovely venue. The Keswick Museum is small but interesting.
The location is really great as you have a beautiful Bassenthwaite lake nearby. It's also a short drive from Dodd wood which offers trails for all abilities, overlooking the beautiful. Keswick time is just 10 minutes drive and the lake of Derwentwater is also about a 20 minute drive. The facilities of the hotel are great, the restaurant is very good with a good choice even for vegetarians. The breakfast is sumptuous and served by very friendly staff. The restaurant is big and offers great views of the surrounding hills.
The staff were brilliant and the food was absolutely first class. As this small and friendly hotel is located a short drive away from the tourist town of Keswick, we felt they probably have to work harder for their custom - Location, Location, Location!
The standard of the hotel, the service, the breakfast, the evening meals and overall value far surpassed anything you'd get in the town centre for the price.
A comfortable period property on a quiet street just a stones throw from the town centre. On site parking was a bonus.
Traditionaliy furnished bedroom with a very comfortable bed and goose-down duvet. Paul, our host, cooked us the best Full English breakfast we've ever had and was helpful in recommending establishments for evening meals.
Ideally situated for exploring Keswick and the Lake District.
Room was good size, comfortable, large bathroom with great hot shower. Breakfast was lovely nothing too much trouble. Great! Stayed here previously rooms never disappoint! We had dinner in the hotel both nights and could not fault the food! Always friendly love Braithwaite. Ample parking near our room. Every room is also dog friendly.
We went for a dinner bed and breakfast package the food was amazing three course meal included and full English breakfast the next day, it was the nicest meal we have ate for ages would recommend the lamb shank and.Thai prawn starter.
Hotel location was great less then 10 minute walk into Keswick town centre
Lovely base and place to stay. Room was comfortable and the hosts were exceptional. We were walked to Threlkeld and back to Keswick, easy access by foot to Keswick Town Centre. Visited Grasmere twice. Walked half round derwentwater and spent half day at Forest near by.
Good location handy for town centre. Excellent kitchen, tv , lounge, sofas etc. Both shower room and bathroom were excellent. Very handy welcome pack of dishwasher tablets, tea coffee, cooking oil etc. Complimentary bottle of Prosecco was a nice touch
Friendly welcoming host. Lovely room. Lots of storage space. Comfortable bed. Close to town centre. Good choice of food for breakfast, which was cooked and presented really well. I will definitely return here next time I visit Keswick
It's an excellently located hotel that gives easy access to the best of Keswick. The rooms are great, spacious and comfortable. The staff are welcoming and upbeat making us both feel very comfortable the whole stay
Lovely hotel with a good spa and really nice restaurants. Beautiful location right on the lake, and only a short drive to Keswick town centre. Friendly staff and really comfortable beds, would definitely stay again!
Excellent location with Keswick town centre being a 20 min walk.
Craig and Claire were fantastic hosts ensuring my stay was perfect.
The breakfast was excellent with good choices.
The location of the hotel is fantastic, close to a lake, a short walk from Keswick town centre and with fantastic outdoor space and a great pub or two locally.
Lovely hosts and great location for Keswick town centre. Lots of choices for breakfast. Very easy check in and check out. Hosts have a lovely little dog too!
